WHAT IS REIKI USED FOR?

First of all, I must say that you can find all the information about Reiki—both as a tool and philosophically—in my dear teacher İsmail Bülbül’s book Reiki: Divine Enlightenment. If you receive Reiki, you can learn how to use it, how to apply it to yourself, and how to use it for others in full detail.

I wanted to write this article because I am frequently asked, "What is Reiki good for?" Naturally, when people get attuned to Reiki, they wonder what benefits they will gain in their lives. Of course, Reiki can be a tool to help us achieve our worldly desires, and some may expect this, but in my opinion, that’s not the main point.

Reiki is a beautiful tool that strengthens our spiritual muscles and leads us to awareness. In fact, from my perspective, Reiki is best defined as a tool that brings us back to our essence, increases our awareness on our journey of self-discovery, keeps us in balance, and accelerates the opportunities necessary for transformation (spiritual evolution). If someone expects Reiki to act like a magic wand, I can’t say that it works that way. However, it can sometimes bring immediate and tangible results, especially if someone has areas in their spiritual journey that are ready to be healed, or if they deeply desire resolution with a clear intention.

One of the quickest results I noticed in myself was the disappearance of PMS (premenstrual syndrome) from my life. In general, I became much calmer. In the long run, my awareness has increased significantly. When I lose my balance, I can quickly regain it. Since my intuition has strengthened, I trust my instincts when making decisions, and this allows me to navigate life more gently. What I mean is that Reiki is philosophical—you have to look at it from that perspective. It’s not as simple as going to the store, handing over money, and getting chocolate in return. 😊

In essence, Reiki works differently for each person because it flows where it is needed and heals that area. Like everything else in life, it requires effort, dedication, and consistency. If I get attuned to Reiki but never use it and then say, "This doesn’t work," someone might ask, "If you don’t go to the gym, will your muscles grow?" or "If you don’t have flour and sugar, can you make halva?"

The closer we get to ourselves—our true essence—the more effortless life becomes. You know those things that never seem to work out no matter what we do? The solution actually lies in finding ourselves. When we free ourselves from our false self (the masked ego) and become whole, we won’t have any unresolved issues in the material world. The real task is to reach that level of awareness.

Every day, we look at the same face in the mirror but never truly see it. Who are we? Just like a snake shedding its skin, as we let go of each layer, we feel lighter and freer. When we experience the taste of getting closer to our essence, we deeply understand what Reiki is truly good for. In the end, the things we struggle to achieve in this world are just secondary rewards. The real question is: Who am I?

With love,
