WALKER

Updated: Mar 10

"Walker" in English means a person who walks or goes for walks. I frequently come across this surname in American movies. However, I have never met anyone in Turkey with a surname that means "walker," "walking," or "hiker." Maybe you have. But where does this need to walk come from?

We know that as the universe expands, it contracts and expands like a heartbeat. In other words, useful energy accumulates and then transforms into other forms of energy to provide benefits. It’s as if the universe is breathing in and out.

Now, let's take a look at human history. Our ancestors were originally hunter-gatherers. First, they would rest, then go hunting or collect edible foods from trees and plants to sustain their lives.

In a way, we do the same today by going to and from work to sustain our lives. However, we don't move as much. Yet, our body functions just like the universe. To get the most benefit from it, we must take care of it and keep it moving.

Now, looking at myself—I have always loved walking, and I couldn’t feel comfortable without walking for at least one or two hours a day. But recently, I have been eating too much junk food, and these extra calories have affected my walking habits. That’s when Atom came to my rescue. I found Atom on the street—or maybe he found me, I’m not sure. When we met, Atom was three months old. I later realized why I named him Atom. Atom is a very energetic dog, with an incredibly high frequency. If you’re feeling a bit down, he immediately comes to you, wagging his tail as if to say, “Let’s pick up the tempo.” He transfers his energy to you. If I were to get him a T-shirt, I would want it to say "Positive Vibes Only."

I take Atom outside twice a day. While at home, he rests, takes care of his needs, and relaxes. But if I don’t take him out, he starts running around the house—he runs, jumps against the wall, bounces off, and keeps running. Then he plays a little and annoys my cat, Tolerance. My cat says, "Let’s rest," while Atom says, "Let’s go!"

When we go outside, Atom sniffs the grass ten times in a single second. With his tiny body, he pulls me along. Our Atom is like a living model of the universe—rest, store energy, walk, and release energy.

Of course, we humans also need to find a balance somewhere between the cat and the dog...
