THE HUMAN BEING IS IN PRISON

Updated: Mar 10

"The human being is in prison"—perhaps we have heard this phrase before.

The beliefs a person absorbs—whether consciously or unconsciously—from their family, school, and society become their reality. These beliefs, with which they have so completely identified that no separation remains, form the strongest walls of their prison.

Hearing these words can spark awareness in a person. As they recognize the boundaries of the prison they have built with their own hands, this realization may push them to take action, triggering a desire for freedom. They may long to free themselves from their mental patterns, beliefs, and thoughts, and they may be utterly sincere in this desire.

Yet, when it comes to truly liberating themselves from these beliefs, the first emotion they may feel is fear.

The fear of losing themselves…

The fear of losing what they have known as "I" up until that day…

The fear that all the definitions they have classified as right, wrong, good, bad will crumble from their hands…

The fear of having nothing left to hold on to…

A human being lives their life carrying all the beliefs that have stuck to them, shaping their sense of self. And at times, these beliefs may have served them well. Other times, they have been shackles, preventing them from taking even a single free step—perhaps the oldest bricks of their prison.

No matter how things stand, a human being wants to stay in their familiar comfort zone. It is known. It is safe. It is a certainty in a world full of uncertainties.

A human often prefers a familiar hell over an unknown paradise.

A human often holds the key to their prison door yet spends a lifetime in captivity.

A human often clings.

But sometimes… a human dares.

Sometimes… a human takes the helm of their life and sails their essence into the infinite.

Sometimes… a human wonders—

"When 'I' disappear, what will remain?"
