THE DIFFERENCE IN SIMILARITY

As she did every morning, she woke up to the sound of the alarm ringing at 08:00. Around 08:10, she finally got out of bed and went to the living room to silence the ringing phone alarm. After washing her face, she sat on her balcony, enjoying the peaceful view, waiting to fully wake up. Then, she began her daily yoga practice. After taking care of the cats at home, she fed the cats in the garden and went to the sea. After grabbing a minced meat pastry from the bakery along the way and a cup of tea from the restaurant by the shore, she sat on the sand, watching the sea while having her breakfast. Swimming, which had become a part of her morning routine, was followed by some sunbathing. When she realized she had forgotten to bring the book she read every day, she decided to enjoy the magnificent view instead. She observed the other people around her and the ordinary flow of life as if she were outside of it. Sometimes she daydreamed, other times she remembered reality. And she remained silent.

While journeying from one thought to another, she realized the "difference" within the concept of "sameness."

Even when performing the "same" actions every day, she noticed that the world around her was not the "same."

What do you do every morning when you wake up? Do you have a morning routine? Now, right now, I would like you to stop everything, including reading this article, and take a few minutes to think.

Even though we might say "I do the same thing every day" with each new day, let’s realize that we are actually "doing the same thing in different ways every day."

We may get on the same bus at the same time every day to go to work, and the same driver might be driving the bus every day. And, in fact, some of the people on that bus might be the same people who go to work with us every day at the same time.

Although "everything seems the same," there is actually an "otherness" in the seeming "sameness" of every day.

If we look carefully, we may not realize that we are not the same person as we were the day before, that the road is not the same road as yesterday, that the car is not the same car as yesterday, and that the people on the bus, with whom we might greet and chat every day, are not the same people as yesterday.

I believe it is our responsibility to teach the "ego" inside us, which complains about "everything being the same," to stop looking at everything with "automatic eyes" and start "seeing."

Therefore, starting today, let’s all set the intention to notice the "differences" in the "sameness" that happens every day in our lives.

Intending is the first step, and remembering that intention in life is the second step.

I wrote this down to help me not forget my intention.

What do you need to help you not forget your intention?
