THE DAY IS NOW

Updated: Mar 10

People often wait for certain special conditions and days to make a fresh start. A lifetime passes with decisions made to begin on Monday, on the 1st of the month, or at the New Year.

Making a decision is easy; the hard part is implementing that decision when the time comes and actually making that start.

G.I. Gurdjieff, the founder of the Fourth Way Teaching, explains this as follows:

*"A person has no individuality. They do not possess a single great 'I'. They are divided into many small 'I's.

And each separate small 'I' is capable of calling itself by the name of the Whole, acting on behalf of the Whole, making agreements, disagreeing, making promises, and taking decisions, which another 'I' or the Whole will later have to deal with. This explains why people frequently make decisions and rarely carry them out.

A person decides to wake up early from the next day onward. One 'I' or a group of 'I's makes this decision. But waking up is the task of another 'I' that is entirely against this decision or knows nothing about it. Naturally, that person will continue sleeping in the morning and will decide again in the evening to wake up early."*— The Truth of Man: Know Yourself – P.D. Ouspensky

Even harder than making that start is sustaining it. For a more detailed explanation of this topic, you can read my article in the December 2021 issue of Varoluş Magazine: https://varolus.com/enerji-sizintilari-ve-surdurulebilir-kararlar/

The Day is TODAY!

No matter which year, month, or day you are reading this, take that step today toward the beginning you wish to make.

Your mind may relentlessly generate excuses to keep you from making this start. If I were to give examples of what my own mind often tells me:

  • "I won’t be making a proper start, it won’t feel right."

  • "Who makes a fresh start on a Friday?"

  • "I need to plan and structure this properly in my mind first."

  • "You’re not ready yet, finish X tasks first, then start."

  • "It’s not perfect in its current state."

The Day is TODAY!

Recognize the sentences of your mind that sabotage your steps toward your intentions and desires right now.

No matter how real that thought or feeling of reality seems to you, break your identification with it—just a little. STOP. Just stop!

In the space you create for your being, set your intention to make that start, and take the first step toward it today.

The best day is TODAY! The best moment is NOW!
