MR. CONGRATULATIONS

Updated: Mar 10

Mr. Congratulations had worked tirelessly all his life. Life had exhausted him, and now all he wanted was to rest at home. For many years, he had accomplished tasks that others thought impossible and had received countless praises. Without him, the universe would have collapsed in on itself from where he stood. In his mind, everyone was bad—only he was good.

He woke up very early in the morning, feeling as if he hadn’t slept at all. He stared at his phone until he lost himself in it. He repeated this several times throughout the night. Experts said not to look at screens before sleep, but what did they know? Could they know better than Mr. Congratulations? What had they ever been congratulated for in their lives?

He got up and had breakfast. He ate only what he liked. He didn’t eat what he didn’t like. Who could dictate his tastes? Who was that so-called expert saying there should be vegetables and fruits of all colors on the table?

After finishing his breakfast, he turned on the TV. He spent a long time watching the channel that talked about how terrible the world was. It wasn’t even noon yet, but he had already spent two to three hours staring at a screen. He thought about his illnesses. He had done everything right—this cruel world had been harsh to him. Then, memories of the days when he received congratulations came to his mind, and he smiled slightly. Oh, how he had dominated those who worked under him.

Speaking of which, what had happened to them—his colleagues? Ah, why should he call them now? And what would he even talk about? They probably had too many problems of their own. “I have enough problems of my own,” thought Mr. Congratulations. After watching more disaster news, he decided to go outside.

“I should take a walk,” he said to himself. After all, health was the most important thing. He knew that. But oh, how he loved life, how much he enjoyed it! He always did his best to make sure his brain released happiness hormones. “Calories? I burn them anyway. Bring it on! Who can tell me what to eat? I walk, I burn them all,” he thought. His mental files were always ready.

He activated the Walking File and stepped outside. He followed the same route at the same time. There was no room for surprises in his life. On his walk, he once again saw people who were nothing like him. How could he accept everything as it was? Everyone should be like him, in his opinion. He spent a long time calculating life in his mind again.

The walk ended, he returned home, and sat in front of the TV. Since he couldn’t sleep at night, he decided to drink something before bed. Books? Nature? No need for them—his mind was already full of life.

So, have you met Mr. Congratulations? 😊
