OVERCOMING THE WAVES

We have expectations from life, things we hope to experience.
But how much effort do we put in for them? Or have we let go of the helm, simply drifting wherever the wind takes us?
"Whose life am I living?"—a question that sparks awareness. Let's ask ourselves.
"Be the main character of your own life." We often hear this phrase. It can be used as a cliché, a trendy saying in casual conversation, or we can internalize it, fill it with meaning, shape our lives with intention, and take control. To do so, we must change our circumstances, step out of our comfort zones, let go of the familiar and easy life, increase our awareness, and reflect on our life goals and purposes.
Of course, in the natural flow of life, we will stumble, and there will be setbacks. But these should not deter us from our intentions—we must keep looking ahead.
There is a saying in sailing: “If you cannot change the direction of the wind, adjust your sails accordingly.” At times, we will lose control of the helm and struggle to stay steady. So, what will we do then? Will we fall into despair and hand over the wheel to someone else? Or will we seize the opportunity to be the captain of our own ship (or at least the first mate at first) and harness the power to change and transform our lives? The choice is ours—will we take charge or passively wait for help from others?

Don’t wait for a life raft—set your own course, battle the waves, and move toward your goal.
This life is yours, and it will only be lived once. Make mistakes, fall, and rise again.
The perfect opportunities we are waiting for may never come. That’s why we must set out without waiting—before it’s too late. Paulo Coelho’s words are deeply meaningful: “One day you will wake up and there won’t be any more time to do the things you’ve always wanted. Do it now.”
Be brave and take action. Why shouldn’t today be that day?
Let’s close with another maritime proverb: “The wind will not help a ship without sails.”
If we have no course and no destination in mind, no wind will guide us sailors.
To become a captain, we must first be a deckhand—know our route, choose our port, and focus on our destination. We can even create our own wind.
"May your bow be clear, and may the winds be in your favor."
With love.
