COVER YOUR CONSCIENCE WITH MERCY

Updated: Mar 10

Here is your requested translation:

The world is said to be four and a half billion years old, but we began counting its age only two thousand and twenty-four years ago. Who knows, maybe we did it so that the countdown to the end of the world would pass quickly. While the most important thing repeatedly told by all religions and teachings is to be virtuous, have we stopped looking at ourselves and thought, “There’s nothing good in these people, with all this injustice, unfairness, and corruption, let’s just count the days and bring the end of the world”?

Who, when, or why started the whole process of calculation, I don't know. The only thing I know for sure is that the planet we live on turns for the sake of beautiful-hearted, virtuous people. We can list many virtues; tolerance, faith, understanding, courage, wisdom, loyalty, compassion, humor, curiosity, politeness, mercy, and many more... They are all wonderful, and if discussed or written about from different perspectives, they could never be fully appreciated. In each of our hearts, there is a tiny spark of mercy, not necessarily for everything or everyone, but for even the smallest things. Let’s take a moment to reflect on this mercy and see if our conscience is truly naked.

The word "conscience" means not doing harm to anyone and not violating anyone's rights. How can one harm someone? Is it only by taking their property, their rights, their body, or their emotions? This could have no end, I think. If a person is without conscience, they can do things beyond imagination. Lack of conscience is when a person, knowing that the life of a living being will be harmed, still acts solely for their own benefit. (I have not included the food chain aspect of animal suffering here, as that could be an entirely separate topic 😊) Unfortunately, advanced human models display their lack of conscience by arming their brains with weapons and using them for violence, shedding tears instead of blood. Though we still live with older generations who favor spilling blood, if we, the new generations, can clothe our conscience with mercy instead of fighting, it would suffice. If you respond to injustice, corruption, and unfairness with another form of oppression, it means you've lost your dignity.

Now, what if you pretend to help someone while only considering your own interests, dressing up your imaginary conscience with mercy? Then, have you still lost your dignity? After all, mercy should be more than just a piece of cloth for the world to keep turning. Otherwise, are you also one of those counting the days?

Mercy is such a virtue that it prevents you from doing harm, even to those who harm you. Instead of increasing darkness with darkness, simply standing still and turning inactivity into light is the perfect time. I hear the inner voices echoing in my ears: “How could I remain indifferent after all the oppression I’ve suffered?” Seeking justice is one thing, acting with the intention to harm is another. Life is full of situations as thin as a hair and sharp as a sword, and simply being able to live through them is an art. Let your skill be mercy, not cruelty, pain, tears, injustice, or unfairness… Let mercy prevail, so the world may continue turning and we may simply count the days to manage time.

I hope that the true conscience of all humanity is embraced by mercy.

With love.
