In last month’s article, we discussed how the brain works more when we stop thinking about anything, and this state is called the "Default Mode Network." When in this mode, the mind stops and shifts into a state of organizing and collecting. If scientific studies have confirmed this information, could we get ourselves a wonderful New Year's gift this year?
The Default Mode Network helps a person understand their inner thoughts and self-perception. It is more active during passive tasks that don't require attention. So, when we stop, it becomes active. Isn’t our goal to always reach the better, the beautiful, and the right in this world’s conditions? Then, could this information be one of the most beautiful keys to reaching them?
Can we say that when our bodily functioning, this magnificent mechanism that works without our awareness, deviates from its nature, it sends us signals? For example, when we’ve worked too much, been too sad, too tired, cried too much, or been worn out, the Default Mode Network reminds us that we need to stop. So, how can we use this magnificent gift we are living in?
We all have daily hustle and bustle, plans, and responsibilities in this working system, of course, but how can we create space for ourselves and stop amidst all this? The answer can never be the same because everyone has to find their own arrangement based on their life plan. Sometimes, for some people, it may be in the morning, for others, in the evening, or even at midday, so the timing may vary. For example, when I find the time, I try to close my eyes and do it. It doesn’t matter how many minutes or seconds; we can do it whenever we catch the opportunity.
Taking time for ourselves is one of the most debated topics in the modern age. The desire for this time to always be perfect underlies why we tend to postpone, ignore, and brush it aside. And at the end of the day, we find ourselves trapped in a vicious cycle. So, doesn’t using this golden knowledge at every moment we find—regardless of when, where, or how—bring the beauty we desire for our lives? Later on, we may perhaps think more consciously about it, create this time intentionally, and incorporate it into our daily routines. What do you think? I wish us all a New Year full of beauty and hope, where we can use our Default Mode Network. Stay well, with love.
